Memories and glossaries belong to the client. Reusing one company's terminology on a competitor's documents is a serious breach as well as a commercial risk, so separation has to be structural rather than a matter of care.
Every project passes through several hands. Translation, review, formatting and delivery each belong to somebody different, and a step that quietly waits for two days is invisible until the deadline arrives.
Repetition is money. Analysing a document for repeated and previously translated segments changes the quote substantially, and quoting on raw word count either loses the job or overcharges an existing client.
The clock runs while the office is closed. Work sent to a translator in another time zone comes back overnight, and a project plan that assumes local working hours wastes half the available time.
