A Sichuan noodle restaurant in the 9th arrondissement had an attractive website that Google could not see: not one of its pages was indexed. There was no robots.txt and no sitemap, and the same site was served at a second address without a canonical — which was also where its paid ad pointed. The noodles, the desserts and the entire English version existed only in JavaScript; the English was stored in the visitor's browser. And the site gave neither opening hours nor a phone number.
What we built
- The same website, made readable: their texts, photos, colours and typefaces, moved to static pages that need no JavaScript to display.
- The full menu in the HTML: 32 dishes and drinks with their prices, the dishes also with their Chinese names, marked up with menu and restaurant structured data, including address and opening hours.
- A real English version, with its own addresses, hreflang between the two languages, a sitemap and robots.txt.
- Opening hours on every page, readable without JavaScript, with an «open now» notice calculated on Paris time rather than the visitor's, and a fixed bar on mobile: menu, directions and call.
- Numbered QR cards for the tables and a dedicated address for asking for reviews: the destination can be changed without reprinting the cards.
- Photos served as WebP in two sizes.
The whole page
Exactly as a visitor sees it, top to bottom.
