The queue is where reputations are lost. Shooting is a day and editing is several, so a busy fortnight creates a backlog that arrives as late deliveries a month later, and clients judge the delay rather than the photographs.
Paperwork protects the licence. A signed contract, a model release and written usage terms decide what may be published years afterwards, and reconstructing consent retrospectively is impossible.
Archives only grow. Every job adds files that must be backed up, findable and kept for as long as was promised, and a photographer without a system eventually cannot locate a wedding from six years ago that the couple is now asking for.
Distant bookings need managing, not just recording. A date agreed a year ahead requires a deposit, a reminder and a confirmation months later, because both sides can drift in that time.
