Nobody sets out for ice cream; they set out for the park, the beach or an afternoon with the children, and this is where it ends. Appearing in the searches about the outing puts the shop in the plan before anybody is hungry.
The style gets named. Gelato, soft serve, sorbet, made on the premises: those words separate a shop from a freezer in a newsagent, and they bring people who will walk past two nearer options.
The cart is a different company sharing a name. Weddings, corporate days and parties are booked months ahead, run all year and never appear in any search about a cone.
Preparation has to happen out of season. The trading window is a few months and it opens without warning on the first warm weekend, so anything published in June is chasing a season already half gone.
