Being open is a ranking factor in practice. Sunday mornings, bank holidays and early trade hours are searched explicitly, and shops with accurate listings take that traffic without any competition at all.
Tool hire is a search of its own with a higher ticket and a weekend pattern. It is looked for by somebody with a job planned for Saturday who has already decided not to buy the machine.
The obscure item is the loyalty engine. Whoever appears for an unusual fixing or an obsolete part earns a customer who drives past two larger shops to get there, and keeps doing it.
