Their site worked. That was the problem: nobody looked at what was missing. Their blog was still publishing the theme's placeholder text, 29 addresses returned errors — the 18 articles they had written plus 11 service pages — and there were no legal pages at all, while their contact form asked for consent to process data with nothing to link to.
What we built
- 29 lost addresses recovered at their original URLs: links already in circulation and anything Google had indexed work again on their own.
- The 19 pages that did work are kept one by one. Nothing merged or renamed: in a rescue, breaking a live address is the one regression the client notices and we don't.
- 16,000 words of their own content returned to the site, taken from a four-year-old backup.
- 36 photos of their actual work, selected and optimised. Stock imagery was left out.
- Legal notice, privacy and cookie policies written around what the site actually does, not around a template.
- Every page with its own title and description, and all 259 images with alt text. Before: none.
- The home page went from 233 KB to 25 KB.
