A kennel with almost forty years behind it had been losing its own record through successive template changes. The page telling the breeder's story was empty. The gallery showed no photos at all. Two of the bitches had lost their entire show record — 41 shows — and their pages still carried the headings «Pedigree», «Results» and «Gallery», all three blank. «Litters» and «In memoriam» were still in the menu on every page and both returned errors. And eight dog pages did not open a page at all: they redirected to a bare image file.
What we built
- 120 shows recovered from a backup of the old hosting, where the theme stored them as four parallel lists — show, class, placing and judge — that had to be matched back together row by row. Where a column was missing a value we left the gap: a shifted entry credits an award to the wrong show, and in this world people check.
- Duplicated content caught before publishing: two dog pages carried a third dog's results table copied whole. It was not published.
- 393 photographs rescued and converted to WebP at two sizes, 34 % lighter, with pedigrees and hip-dysplasia radiographs kept in their own section.
- Not one address broken: the 38 working URLs are kept exactly as they were, and another 38 that returned errors were recovered with permanent redirects.
- Show record laid out by year with the wins highlighted, a table on desktop and cards on mobile.
- Legal notice and privacy policy, which did not exist.
